OPEN CALL FOR THE URBAN SKETCH WALKS WORKSHOPS, BY PHANEROMENIS 70

 

Phaneromenis 70, in collaboration with artists Chloe Finn, Michalis Charalambous and Nikoletta Papamichael, organizes three workshops titled Urban Sketch Walks! The workshops will take place on the 21st May, 25th and 28th of May and will involve walking and sketching around the city of Nicosia, and each workshop will focus on a different characteristic feature of the town: architecture, the people, and nature!

All the workshops will start from Phaneromenis 70 building, and the sketches/drawings which will be conducted during them will be exhibited in the library of Phaneromenis Church.
Our aim?

To be able and examine your own point of view of the town, through art!

Our artists:

Nicoletta Papamichael

Nicoletta Papamichael was born in Larnaca in 1977. She studied Fine Arts at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, where from she graduated with distinction in 2001.

In 2002 she entered in the Complutense University of Madrid, and followed a Masters course titled Theory and Practice of the Contemporary Art.

In 2006 she was accepted at a PhD programme of the same University under the general title “drawing and engraving, teaching and creativity”. She has successfully finished its first part with her thesis: “Self portrait: the Art to share Intimacy”.
Terms as Intimacy, Private and Personal as well as their role in the artistic creation, are questions that preoccupy her both in her artistic and theoretical research.
Nicoletta has presented three solo exhibitions in Cyprus and two solo presentations in Madrid and has presented her work in Florence, Madrid, Barcelona and Berlin, as well as in many group exhibitions in Cyprus.

 

Chloe Finn

Chloe Finn was born in Thessaloniki in 1989 to a Greek mother and an Australian father. She studied Product Design in Central St.Martins, London and has worked in a variety of arts and crafts. Her works are on-location illustrations, from real places she meets in her travels, cities she visits and houses and interiors that inspire her. Her passion for capturing landscapes led her to collaborate with various groups, environmental and cultural organizations, creating images, graphics and illustrating children's books.

She has been living and working in Cyprus for the last four years, dealing with artist groups, workshops and social projects.

 

Michalis Charalambous

Michalis Charalambous, born in 1987, is a Visual Artist.  Michalis’ practice includes ceramic, filmmaking and painting. He graduated from the Fine Arts School of Visual and Applied Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2013. His Master dissertation (MA, Open University of Cyprus, 2019) focuses on the activity and influence of independent Artist-Run spaces in Cyprus. He has participated in national and international festivals and exhibitions like the 16th Venice Biennale of Architecture (Cyprus Pavilion, 2018), the 6th Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art (2017, “Imagined Homes”),  the special screening program at 58th  Thessaloniki International film Festival,  the Athens Ethnographic Film Festival (2016) with the documentary “Anamones” and the PAFOS 2017 group exhibition “Weaving Europe”. Finally, he has been hosted in artist residencies in Lecce/ Puglia, IT (BJCEM, “LandXcape”) and in Barcelona, SP (Can Serrat).

Through his practice, Michalis Charalambous explores the boundaries between space, body, object and identity in our time using digital technology and traditional media. He examines the contradictory terms of analogue and digital, physical and virtual environment, material and intangible. His work aims to interpret a non-specific context defined by symbolism. It suggests different ways of touching a vessel to interpret the interaction between the meta-human, the object and the space.

His artistic practice takes references from ancient vessels dating to different historical cultures which, blended with poetic narratives, sculptural practices and 3d modeling lead to new, hybrid forms. At the same time, Michalis makes use of the method of “still life photography” as a mean of alternative interpretation and approach concerning the context of an image. In this context, photography operates as a medium associated to cultural and political significances rather than an ordinary scientific tool.

ΑΝΟΙΧΤΟ ΚΑΛΕΣΜΑ ΓΙΑ ΤΑ ΕΡΓΑΣΤΗΡΙΑ URBAN SKETCH WALKS ΤΟΥ ΦΑΝΕΡΩΜΕΝΗΣ 70

 

Το Φανερωμένης 70, σε συνεργασία με τους καλλιτέχνες Chloe Finn, Μιχάλης Χαραλάμπους και Νικολέττα Παπαμιχαήλ, οργανώνει τρία εργαστήρια με τίτλο Urban Sketch Walks! Τα εργαστήρια θα λάβουν χώρα στις 21, 25 και 28 Μαΐου και θα αφορούν σε περιπάτους…ζωγραφικής γύρω από την πόλη της Λευκωσίας, που θα εστιάζουν σε τρία διαφορετικά χαρακτηριστικά γνωρίσματα της πόλης: την αρχιτεκτονική, τους ανθρώπους, και τη φύση!

Όλα τα εργαστήρια θα ξεκινήσουν από το Φανερωμένης70 και οι ζωγραφιές που θα πραγματοποιηθούν κατά τη διάρκεια τους θα εκτεθούν στη βιβλιοθήκη της εκκλησίας της Φανερωμένης.

Στόχος μας; Να μπορέσουμε να εξετάσουμε τη δική σας ματιά για την πόλη, μέσα από τη ζωγραφική!

Οι καλλιτέχνες :

 

Νικολέττα Παπαμιχαήλ:

Η Νικολέττα Παπαμιχαήλ γεννήθηκε στη Λάρνακα το 1977 και σπούδασε Καλές Τέχνες στο Florence Academy of Fine Arts από όπου αποφοίτησε το 2001. Το μεταπτυχιακό της στο Complutense University of Madrid έχει θέμα την Θεωρία και Πρακτική της Σύγχρονης Τέχνης. Από το 2006 είναι διδακτορική φοιτήτρια το Πανεπιστήμιο της Μαδρίτης με τίτλο “Self portrait: the Art to share Intimacy”. Τα θέματα στα οποία εργάζεται είναι η οικειότητα, η ιδιωτική και προσωπική και αποτελούν μέρος της καλλιτεχνικής της δημιουργίας. Έχει παρουσιάσει τρεις σόλο εκθέσεις στην Κύπρο και δύο στην Μαδρίτη. Επιπλέον έργα της έχουν παρουσιαστεί στη Φλωρεντία, Μαδρίτη, Βαρκελώνη και Βερολίνο όπως και σε άλλες ομαδικές εκθέσεις στην Κύπρο.

 

Χλόη Φίνν

Η Χλόη Φίνν γεννήθηκε στην Θεσσαλονίκη το 1989 από μητέρα Ελληνίδα και πατέρα Αυστραλό.  Σπούδασε Product Design στο Central St.Martins του Λονδίνου και ασχολήθηκε με διάφορα είδη τέχνης και κατασκευής. Τα έργα της είναι επιτόπιες εικονογραφήσεις, από αληθινά μέρη που συναντά στα ταξίδια της, από τις πόλεις που βρίσκεται και τα σπίτια και τους εσωτερικούς χώρους που την εμπνέουν. Η αγάπη της για την καταγραφή τοπίων την οδήγησε στην συνεργασία με διάφορες ομάδες, περιβαλλοντικούς και πολιτιστικούς οργανισμούς, δημιουργώντας εικόνες, γραφιστικά και εικονογραφώντας παιδικά παραμύθια.

Τα τελευταία τέσσερα χρόνια ζει και εργάζεται στην Κύπρο, ασχολείται με ομάδες καλλιτεχνών, εργαστήρια και κοινωνικά πρότζεκτ.

 

Μιχάλης Χαραλάμπους

O Μιχάλης Χαραλάμπους (b.1987) είναι εικαστικός καλλιτέχνης. Η πρακτική του περιλαμβάνει  κεραμική, ζωγραφική, filmmaking  και ψηφιακά μέσα.  Έχει συμμετάσχει σε διεθνείς και εγχώριες εκθέσεις  όπως η ομαδική έκθεση Τogether Apart-Going New Places (2020) Λονδίνο,  η 16η Μπιενάλε Αρχιτεκτονικής Βενετίας (Κυπριακής Συμμετοχή, 2018),  6η Μπιενάλε Θεσσαλονίκης Σύγχρονης Τέχνης (2017, “Imagined Homes”), στο ειδικό πρόγραμμα  προβολών στην 58ο διεθνές Φεστιβάλ ταινιών Θεσσαλονίκης, στο διεθνές Εθνογραφικό Φεστιβάλ Ταινίων Αθήνας (2016) και στο Πάφος 2017 στην ομαδική έκθεση «Weaving Europe”. Τέλος έχει συμμετάσχει σε διεθνείς και τοπικά προγράμματα φιλοξενίας καλλιτεχνών όπως στο Phytorio Artist-in-Residency Λευκωσία, στο BJCEM, LandXcap- στη Πούλια Ιταλίας, Can Serrat στη Βαρκελώνη και στο SNEHTA στην Αθήνα. Μέσω  της πρακτικής του εξερευνά τα όρια μεταξύ ψηφιακού και φυσικού χώρου μέσω του σώματος, αντικειμένου και ταυτότητας, χρησιμοποιώντας ψηφιακές τεχνολογίες και παραδοσιακά μέσα.

 

Μέσα από την πρακτική του, ο Μιχάλης Χαραλάμπους εξερευνά τα όρια μεταξύ χώρου, σώματος, αντικειμένου και ταυτότητας στην εποχή μας χρησιμοποιώντας την ψηφιακή τεχνολογία και τα παραδοσιακά μέσα. Εξετάζει τους αντιφατικούς όρους αναλογικού και ψηφιακού, φυσικού και εικονικού περιβάλλοντος, υλικού και άυλου. Το έργο του στοχεύει στην ερμηνεία ενός μη συγκεκριμένου πλαισίου που ορίζεται από συμβολισμούς. Προτείνει διαφορετικούς τρόπους επαφής ενός αγγείου για να ερμηνεύσει την αλληλεπίδραση μεταξύ του μετα-ανθρώπου, του αντικειμένου και του χώρου.

Η καλλιτεχνική του πρακτική λαμβάνει αναφορές από αρχαία αγγεία που χρονολογούνται σε διαφορετικούς ιστορικούς πολιτισμούς, οι οποίοι, σε συνδυασμό με ποιητικές αφηγήσεις, γλυπτικές πρακτικές και τρισδιάστατα μοντέλα οδηγούν σε νέες, υβριδικές μορφές. Παράλληλα, ο Μιχάλης χρησιμοποιεί τη μέθοδο της «φωτογραφίας νεκρής φύσης» ως μέσο εναλλακτικής ερμηνείας και προσέγγισης στο πλαίσιο μιας εικόνας. Σε αυτό το πλαίσιο, η φωτογραφία λειτουργεί ως μέσο που συνδέεται με πολιτιστικές και πολιτικές σημασίες και όχι ως συνηθισμένο επιστημονικό εργαλείο.

APPEL OUVERT POUR LES ATELIERS URBAN SKETCH BALADES, PAR PHANEROMENIS 70

 

Phaneromenis 70, en collaboration avec les artistes Chloe Finn, Michalis Charalambous et Nikoletta Papamichael, organise trois ateliers intitulés Urban Sketch Walks ! Les ateliers auront lieu les 21, 25 et 28 mai et comprendront des promenades et des croquis dans la ville de Nicosie, et chaque atelier se concentrera sur une caractéristique différente de la ville : l'architecture, les gens et la nature !

Tous les ateliers débuteront à partir du bâtiment Phaneromenis 70, et les esquisses/dessins qui y seront réalisés seront exposés dans la bibliothèque de l'église Phaneromenis.

Notre but? Pouvoir interroger son propre point de vue sur la ville, à travers l'art !

Nicoletta Papamichael

Nicoletta Papamichael est née à Larnaca en 1977. Elle a étudié les Beaux-Arts à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Florence, d'où elle est diplômée avec distinction en 2001.

En 2002, elle entre à l'Université Complutense de Madrid et suit un cours de maîtrise intitulé Théorie et pratique de l'art contemporain.

En 2006, elle a été acceptée dans un programme de doctorat de la même université sous le titre général "dessin et gravure, enseignement et créativité". Elle a terminé avec succès sa première partie avec sa thèse : « Autoportrait : l'Art de partager l'Intimité ». Des termes comme Intimité, Privé et Personnel ainsi que leur rôle dans la création artistique, sont des questions qui la préoccupent tant dans sa recherche artistique que théorique. Nicoletta a présenté trois expositions personnelles à Chypre et deux présentations personnelles à Madrid et a présenté son travail à Florence, Madrid, Barcelone et Berlin, ainsi que dans de nombreuses expositions collectives à Chypre.

 

Chloe Finn

Chloe Finn est née à Thessalonique en 1989 d'une mère grecque et d'un père australien. Elle a étudié la conception de produits à Central St. Martins, Londres et a travaillé dans une variété d'arts et d'artisanat. Ses œuvres sont des illustrations sur le terrain, à partir de lieux réels qu'elle rencontre au cours de ses voyages, de villes qu'elle visite et de maisons et d'intérieurs qui l'inspirent. Sa passion pour la capture de paysages l'a amenée à collaborer avec divers groupes, organisations environnementales et culturelles, créant des images, des graphiques et illustrant des livres pour enfants.

Elle vit et travaille à Chypre depuis quatre ans, s'occupant de groupes d'artistes, d'ateliers et de projets sociaux.

Michalis Charalambous

Michalis Charalambous, né en 1987, est artiste plasticien. La pratique de Michalis comprend la céramique, le cinéma et la peinture. Il est diplômé de la Fine Arts School of Visual and Applied Arts de l'Université Aristote de Thessalonique en 2013. Son mémoire de maîtrise (MA, Open University of Cyprus, 2019) porte sur l'activité et l'influence des espaces indépendants gérés par des artistes à Chypre. Il a participé à des festivals et expositions nationaux et internationaux comme la 16e Biennale d'architecture de Venise (Pavillon de Chypre, 2018), la 6e Biennale d'art contemporain de Thessalonique (2017, "Imagined Homes"), le programme de projection spéciale du 58e Festival international du film de Thessalonique. , le Festival du film ethnographique d'Athènes (2016) avec le documentaire « Anamones » et l'exposition collective PAFOS 2017 « Weaving Europe ». Enfin, il a été hébergé dans des résidences d'artistes à Lecce/Puglia, IT (BJCEM, "LandXcape") et à Barcelone, SP (Can Serrat).

À travers sa pratique, Michalis Charalambous explore les frontières entre l'espace, le corps, l'objet et l'identité à notre époque en utilisant la technologie numérique et les médias traditionnels. Il examine les termes contradictoires d'environnement analogique et numérique, physique et virtuel, matériel et immatériel. Son travail vise à interpréter un contexte non spécifique défini par le symbolisme. Il propose différentes façons de toucher un récipient pour interpréter l'interaction entre le méta-humain, l'objet et l'espace.

Sa pratique artistique prend des références d'anciens vaisseaux datant de différentes cultures historiques qui, mélangés à des récits poétiques, des pratiques sculpturales et des modélisations 3D, conduisent à de nouvelles formes hybrides. Parallèlement, Michalis utilise la méthode de la "photographie de nature morte" comme moyen d'interprétation et d'approche alternatifs concernant le contexte d'une image. Dans ce contexte, la photographie fonctionne comme un médium associé à des significations culturelles et politiques plutôt qu'un outil scientifique ordinaire
