This Christmas, Phaneromenis 70 Cultural Centre is ‘closing’ the year with a special programme that will make you look at Cyprus through a new lens. Our ongoing social/cultural programme ‘Delivering Views – Delivering Texts’ is continuing with the publication of 10 booklets titled:

Delivering Views #26 Mini Series 

Narratives on Cyprus

 

Ten foreign wanderers, researchers of various disciplines who have visited Cyprus and Nicosia in particular, record the journal and the archive of their experiences, by offering us their personal viewpoint on the island. The world will have the opportunity to see Nicosia and Cyprus through their eyes, by coming into contact with the small precious details of the island that they might not have been able to see before.

The event will take place, strictly following the safety measurements, on Tuesday 29.12, at Stoa Papadopoulou, outside our building, 12-6 p.m.

We are waiting for you to take a walk around the island through the images and texts of our wanderers!

The project

The current project ‘Delivering Views-Delivering Texts’ of the Cultural Centre Phaneromenis 70 is based on exchanges of images and texts focused on Nicosia and Cyprus.
In recent years we collect photos and texts made by tourists who visited Cyprus, which help us achieve a new approach and interpretation of our hometown through the foreigner’s look.
The archive material compiled is periodically delivered to editors, intellectuals or artists, so that they comment by choice on anything that moves them.
Our ambition is to stimulate the senses, the emotions and thoughts through the circulation of images and ideas, so as to start a new conversation on things that we –on our move- miss.

Αφηγήματα για την Κύπρο

 

Δέκα ξένοι περιηγητές, ερευνητές διαφόρων αντικειμένων και επιστημόνων που βρέθηκαν στην Κύπρο και τη Λευκωσία συγκεκριμένα, καταγράφουν το ημερολογιακό τους αρχείο από τις εμπειρίες τους, προσφέροντας την προσωπική τους ματιά για το νησί. Ο κόσμος θα έχει την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσει την Λευκωσία και την Κύπρο μέσα από τα μάτια τους, ερχόμενος σε επαφή με μικρές πολύτιμες λεπτομέρειες του νησιού που ενδεχομένως να μην είχε προσέξει πριν.

Η εκδήλωση θα λάβει χώρα, αυστηρά τηρουμένων των μέτρων ασφαλείας, την Τρίτη 29.12, στη Στοά Παπαδοπούλου, έξω από το κτήριο μας, 12-6 μ.μ.

Το πρότζεκτ

Η τρέχουσα δράση «Delivering Views-Delivering Texts» του Ιδρύματος Phaneromenis 70 βασίζεται στην ανταλλαγή εικόνων και κειμένων με επίκεντρο τη Λευκωσία και την Κύπρο. Τα τελευταία χρόνια συλλέγουμε φωτογραφίες και κείμενα τουριστών που επισκέφθηκαν την Κύπρο, προσπαθώντας μέσα από την ξένη ματιά να επιτύχουμε μια νέα προσέγγιση και ερμηνεία στοιχείων του τόπου μας. Το υλικό που συγκεντρώνεται παραδίδεται ανά διαστήματα σε επιμελητές/ανθρώπους των γραμμάτων και των τεχνών για να σχολιάσουν κατ’ επιλογήν τους ό,τι τους συν-κινεί. Φιλοδοξία μας είναι μέσω της διακίνησης εικόνων και ιδεών να διεγείρουμε τις αισθήσεις, το συναίσθημα και τη σκέψη, ώστε να ξεκινήσει ένας νέος διάλογος πάνω σε όσα εν κινήσει μάς διαφεύγουν.
